Casey's Significant Tree Strategy and Register covers roughly a thousand protected trees across the municipality, most of them River Red Gums, and Casey states that its planning controls vary from one part of the city to another, some more restrictive than others. That makes a big old red gum near a reserve or a creek line worth checking before anyone starts cutting.
